Mountain Ridge, also known as “Somerset” to the GNCC faithful, is a very successful Trails Resort in Western Pennsylvania, not far from Pittsburgh.
Those who ride well in rocks will have an edge as this place is covered in them! Rocks, boulders, whatever you want to call it, Mountain Ridge has it, so be ready with good armor, good tires, rock suspension and a cool throttle hand. However, don't worry too much, there's still sections of the track where you'll get a break from the rocks. The riding park, which consists of over 2,500 acres of land, offers up a variety of terrain including gentle rolling hills, mud pits and even a few bigger hill climb sections.
Parking, pitting and primitive camping is plentiful and available in a flat field. Hooray!
Check out the official Web site of the host facility, www.mountainridgeatvtrails.com for the best info on the facility.
Special Info: This is the location of the TBA round on the 2014 schedule.
Flight 93 National Memorial: If you never do anything but race at a GNCC, you need to make an exception and take the time to go see the Flight 93 Memorial just a few miles down from the track in Shanksville. On September 11, 2001, the passengers and crew of Flight 93 courageously gave their lives thwarting a planned attack on our Nation's Capital. The Flight 93 National Memorial is a permanent memorial to the heroes on that plane.
From the track: Make a right onto Rt.160 N to US 30/Lincoln Highway. Make left onto US-30 W. Follow highway through Buckstown. Make a left onto Lambertsville Road. Travel 1.7 miles on Lambertsville Road to Skyline Road. Travel 1 mile on Skyline Road to the temporary Memorial.
